HELLO KITTY CAFE @ KARAWACI

It looks familiar, isn't? Yes, it's HELLO KITTY and I just knew that there's HELLO KITTY Cafe in Jakarta. I saw my friend updated her status so I thought of why not we gave it a go! I saw the ones in Korea and it looks very nice though and yes, I'm expecting that this would be as great too. It took around an hour to actually look for the cafe itself and it was hard to find anyway. It's located at the nearby Apartment, right next to UPH ( I forgot the apartment's name). I didn't take lots of photos of its interior since there's nothing to show I guess apart from the cute chairs they have. Basically, the owner just sells Hello Kitty stuff with some random food they sell.

However, we tried their favorite drink as the owner said - Liang Teh (Chinese Herbal Tea) with Hello Kitty Jellies. The jellies surely looks cute but the taste of the tea itself is a way too sweet! Even for a person who love sweet like I do, admitted it :) Then, we decided to try their Siomay and gosh, please don't try, it's disaster; really it's!
I really would like to apologize but this place is definitely not recommended at all. First, the food is totally crap, 2nd, there's nothing like you would be hoping it would be (the place is extremely small), 3rd : the service is not that good neither, and the last thing is definitely not worth it if you are living outside Jakarta. If you are looking for buying some Hello Kitty's accessories then go for it but other than that purpose, hmmm consider twice! Really am sorry for such a writing but it's the fact go for it if you are curious because none of my friends even bother to come back :)

SHAOLIN REVIEW

This is one of my favorite scenes that is showed at the first few minutes after the movie started. What I love about this scene is the fearless faces they have from both sides. I love the pride that the greatest general name Hou Jie entered the Shaolin temple to hunt down his enemy - so fearless.

This is another scene that I love, the almost-the-end scenes, when the warlord has turned himself into a Shaolin monk.

Introducing you, another historical movie about Chinese culture called "SHAOLIN" who is directed by Benny Chan. Yes, it's about the biggest buddhist temple and the story of its fallen because of protecting the powerful general named Hou Jie played by Andy Lau. If you aren't familiar with Chinese actor than you won't know about the other actor name Nicholas Tse, the villain and the other monks. Jackie Chan also played his role as a monk but he doesn't act much but quite entertaining like he always does. This movie actually a remake and if I'm not mistaken Jet Lee did a movie of it but with different version!

If you aren't interested in knowing some chinese culture than don't watch! I didn't say that this movie is just full of craps or anything but if have no interest in knowing then you would just found this movie somehow boring. The duration is 131 minutes with lots of actions and talks too especially when you are reached in the middle of the movie, lots of drama. The place settings, actions and actings are awesome though. I love it when a simple movie is brought up in a complicated way and still amazing and this is how Benny Chan brought this movie into your eyes.

I really wish, the actions is more brutal since it'll make this movie kind of like perfect! However, it's definitely one of a great historical Chinese movies after The Three Kingdom : Resurrection  of the dragon, acted by Andy Lau himself. Andy Lau acted extremely well but Nicholas Tse doesn't seem to give his best with his role with that cold face and attitudes. Jackie Chan is just alright, nothing special about his acting, same old, same old :)

Overall, I rated 9 out 10 for this awesome movie. Love everything about this movie although yes I have to admit that the director is kind of like losing control the last 15 minutes of the movie. It's like he was in a rush while making the last few scenes. Check out the trailer and then watch it!!! and hey, also download their theme song which is quite soothing though called " Wu (悟) - Enlightment" by Andy Lau; find the lyric and its translation, awesome meaning :)

Kamseng Porridge

So on last Saturday, me and my friends decided to have our dinner at Bubur Kamseng (Kamseng Porridge) at Jl. Mangga Besar 1 No.26, Jakarta. It's basically 24 hours open and the porridge is still as delicious as it is whether its morning, afternoon, evening, night or even early in the morning. I went twice in the past four days. First with a bunch of my friends on Saturday night and the second one was today with my parents. Honestly, it's kind of cheap eating in here and the porridge itself starts from Rp. 15.000 ($ 1.50) if I'm not mistaken and you can shared either with two or three people, so its cheap! And their side dishes are delicious and cheap too. While waiting for the porridge to be served, I ordered Crispy fried bananas with honey on top of it - yummy!

Here are the side dishes that I ordered for the past two days - The fried tofu , chinese omelette, cha siaw, salted eggs, cakwue and cong fan. The side dishes prices is starting from Rp. 5.000  and below Rp. 20.0000 ($ 0.50 - $ 2). Although its serve in small quantity but it will still make your tummy full.

Their Guang Zhuo Porridge is one of the house speciality I think. It's basically porridge with a bit of cha siuw, peanuts, fried yolk egg with few chicken and fish too! My mom and my friends like it too! I didn't get a chance to try as I love my ow porridge ha-ha-ha-ha!

This is mine!! Mine is so simple just chicken with century eggs and yes I finished them all :D!

Well, I eat my porridge differently. I like to add sweet soya sauce along with it even the waitress found it weird when I asked for the sauce ha-ha-ha! Combination of century eggs, sweet soy sauce and salted eggs just make my simple porridge rich of tastes although it looks kind of weird he-he-he!!

For the drink, I ordered Taro Pearl and it's seriously delicious! You can taste the taro so well. I have also ordered their red tea pearl and it's nice too! Their milky drink is quite good though :)

If you are looking for a 24 hours place to eat with reasonable price, proportional portion and delicious, then Bubur Kamseng is the place. Yes, it's kind of a bit far if you live in west Jakarta but it does worth for the journey especially when you bounce to the place at night time, the street is quite empty though. If you want a good place to spend your time with your friends and family, you can also hang out in here. The place isn't so cozy like a cafe but surely clean and good enough! We love their porridge and somehow when you eat their porridge, it makes you feel that you are eating a totally Chinese porridge like the ones you often see in TV; it's hmm! i don't know how to describe it but it kind of makes you addicted somehow :)

The Green Hornet Review

Guess what? my other obsession is being a movie reviewer too although I'm quite sucks at it! I love watching new movies and sometimes I went out by myself too. And I know this is quite late and I really have no interest in watching this movie but anyway I did since there were 15 of us watching this movie.

We watched it the 3-D and trust me it's such a waste. This movie itself is entertaining but it isn't as funny or even hilarious as what I heard. I did laugh but that's because the funny Chudnfsky made me so with his stupid ascent and all that! The introduction of him is also funny though especially when he changed his name into bloodnfsky and on how he said stuff before he killed someone! at least he's the one that entertain me the most and the rest of my friends too!

The introduction of the movie is alright but the rest is just too draggy and made it quite boring though. I yawned for few times through the whole movie and couldn't wait to get out of it. Seth Roger is just disaster as an actor and I had no idea why it had to be him and Jay Chow, well i think this is the best movie he ever acted ( after Initial D).

I don't see the point of hiring Cameron Diaz in the movie because surely her name won't really be helpful in the selling of this movie. I think it's because of Jay Chow's name that made people curious on watching especially in Asian countries like mine, Indonesia.

This movie isn't that bad (it's bad but not too crappy) but if there's no other movie in the cinema to kill your time, then this is the right one. Very light movie to watch with your family or even the little ones with simple actions, conversation and the kids would most probably laughing at the stupid actions that look extremely too fake. There's no chemistry between Seth and Jay at all throughout the whole movie no matter how hard they really tried, they failed! And oh! the cars are sexy! OVERALL, I rated this movie as 3.5 out of 10, highly not recommended unless you are just so damn bored and have nothing to do!

Meatballs @ West Jakarta

Meatballs has always been my favorite food since I was a little kid. It was precisely the food that I grew up with. I don't need to look for any other places outside the west area just to eat meatballs! I've 3 favorites places to eat - Green Garden, Sunrise Garden and Bakso Jawir At Puri. Sunrise meatballs might not be as famous as the rest two but it's as good as the rest of two. Unfortunately, there is two shift at Sunrise, if you happen to see the ones with blue cart, then DON'T eat that one - come back the next month!

I always ate two bowls of meatballs and yes I can still eat more than that. I just love meatballs too extremely much. And I like to eat them either with our traditional cracker (Kerupuk) or the fried snacks like fried tofu. Bakso Jawir at Puri , right opposite of Cimory store is actually nicer than Green Garden ones but for the tendon meatballs (bakso urat), Sunrise Garden ones is unbeatable. Sunrise Garden's meatballs is actually the ones nearby the high school down there. And don't forget to order Orange juice with coconut at Bakso Jawir, it's just a perfect drink for the delicious food!

The meatball's at Green Garden is quite expensive though Rp. 12.000 ($1.20) per portion and I seriously think its not worth it sometimes unless that's the closest place from where you live. you should try their traditional crackers (kerupuk). Their meatballs is not that bad neither but somehow Jawir is a lot better!!! The soup in here is better than Jawir!

Waterleaf @ Bandung

Introducing you all this very beautiful cafe in Bandung especially if you come with someone very special or even with your family. This huge place with place to stay on, small waterfall and even playground to play with your family is located at Jl. Sersan Bajuri No. 102 - Cihideung, Bandung. My friend, Mega told me to come over before the sunset but we couldn't get into it before 6 pm which means we couldn't really watch the waterfall, sad hey! However, here are the views of the cafe itself after 6.30 PM or precisely at dinner time!

Awesome scenery isn't? it's beautiful and the weather is quite chilly so if you can't stand of cold, then bring your jacket along. I think this place going to be beautiful if you come there earlier like around 4.30 PM so you can see the sunset! Don't you agree?

Since it's dinner time, the four of us decided to just have our dinner in here. With that kind of chilly weather, I decided to have their grilled ribs menu and it's so delicious. I love how they present the menu I ordered - fresh vegetable on a small carry-able bamboo place and a bowl of rice with elephant craft.

I love how they present the menu I ordered - fresh vegetable on a small carry-able bamboo place and a bowl of rice with elephant craft. I'm not quite sure what the girls ordered - it's like fried corn and prawn fritter ( Bakwan Jagung + Udang) and Empal, It's our local ( Java) spiced and fried chunks of beef and these kind of fried stuff is great to be eaten by chillies of course!  And also my other friend ordered The Oxtails Soup!

The price is quite expensive though but not too expensive as we thought it would be, so should we just say it as reasonable? For the price of my ribs, it's great ( Rp. 47.000 , $4.70) and they really gave me lots of ribs! And I think the oxtail has somewhat the same price. We didn't order any weird drink other than tea! ha-ha-ha! The place is great whether its for hanging out with the very special one (yes great place for valentine), honeymoon even ( I heard the resort is also good), or just with your family! I love the sceneries, the food I had and of course the friends too ^_^

Lisung Cafe Review

This is the book menu of a cafe in Bandung, precisely at Jl. Bukit Pakar Timur No.111 called " Lisung Cafe". My friend, Mega wanted to go to this cafe since her friends give a recommendation. So, there four of us who were totally planning on being a cafe hopper that Friday! Look on how happy we really are after our tummy was full with awesome food :)

I don't know why but I'm always so tempted in trying food or beverage with weird name like this drink I've. I'm not quite sure what it's called anyway since I've problem in remembering name but this one is the house specialist's drink - something with volcano I think! Basically, it's coffee with raisins as their topping, strawberry as the drink's decoration and melted chocolate muddy covering half of the glass. Nothing really special about the taste I mean it's just coffee covered with Chocolate basically but once the chocolate mixed with the coffee it tastes quite good though. A must to try! :)
The 4 of us arrived at Lisung with a very hungry stomach and couldn't barely be wait for the food to be served. The service isn't that slow but since we were just totally starving so it made us think it served long. Anyway, the menu I ordered is basically delicious grilled spicy honey duck served with a fried fermented  soya beans, fried tofu that I gave away to my friend and Kerupung (those two whites). Whether its the taste, the portion, or the price itself; both are just awesome - Rp. 27.000 or $2.70, around that price! Seriously, it's so cheap for a price of cafe's food. The duck is being grilled well enough not too spicy nor sweet, it's just excellent.
Followed with my friend's menu that I have no idea what its called although this is the house's speciality too. Overall, it's just fried chicken with fried tofu, nuts rice, and fried fermented soya beans and it also cost around the price above. She loves the food she had and yeah I also had a bit of it and it's good too.
Whether you are local or not, you should try their Nasi Bakar ( Grilled Rice). It serves with Deep Fried Chicken, Fried Tofu and Fried Fermented Soya Beans. There's just something different about usual Grilled Rice. This one is a bit expensive than the rest of us but it's totally worth for the price (can't even be called as expensive neither) and it looks as good as it tastes, no kidding!
Now, let's see the views you'll be getting from this 4 level cafe. For the cafe's view itself... well you couldn't really see its beauty unless at night time. I heard it's beautiful at night time. However, I decided to just take some photos of the views. So don't worry, each level has a different view but the bottom ones is the nicest one with sofa. Although we went there for lunch but the weather is quite chilly too!
The use of traditional touch makes this cafe is the right place to hang out whether with friends/family. Even, you could actually find a cat inside of this cafe which is weird though ha-ha-ha! This cafe have lots of good spots for photography and you can actually do an old village kind of PRE-WED concept. It's such a shame even through each photo I took, you won't be able to see the whole 4 levels or might be perhaps, I should try to take from different angles with wide-lens! Hmm! Let's see :-) And anyway, each level has different seat and I just forgot to take them!

ONE thing for sure that this cafe has become our favorite. It takes a little while to get the food served but well, when you are with the right people, time just flies quickly. Their food and beverage is very cheap, the portions is big, the taste is awesome (we love each of our own food), the view isn't that bad, the weather is so chilly with lots of good spots to take photos too. So really, you don't need to think about anything, just bring the special ones to this highly recommended cafe! The cafe's signboard is kind of unnoticed in a way so does the building (too many cafes surround them), but look for this electricity tower and you are there! Hope you enjoy their food & beverage and the environment as much as we really do! ^______^
